Profil

Thomas Jomini Architecture Workshop was founded in 1997 with the conviction that qualitative ideas are economically sustainable. Our values are integrity, innovation spirit et commitment to excellence. We are acting in a entrepreneurial spirit knowing that success depends on courage going our own way. Our core services are Urban Design & Masterplanning, Architecture Design, Interior Design, Product & Corporate Design, Project & Program Management, Sustainable Design Development, Consultancy & Expertise. During the past 13 years, Exhibitions, Publications and Lectures were regularly presented.

Our aim is the creation of organisms and systems which are human and friendly in spite of being large and efficient. Where every part is designed for the human being whose happiness is the concern of all.

Our architecture and design philosophy is rooted in the idea that intelligent and consistent stories can be developed for our clients and their buildings or products. We believe in creating memorable experiences from these stories by integrating every touch point of the identity and brand. Sustainable and holistic thinking is the beginning of those stories. Our design process is driven by the pursuit of quality - a belief that our surroundings directly influence the quality of our lives, whether in the work place, at home or the public spaces in between.

A sustainable house in Bern, clad in copper, with high energy efficiency "Minergie"

House Faraday is located in the Lorraine district of Bern, a workers’ neighbourhood of old clapboard residential houses alternating with dull post-war buildings. The area has evolved over the last two years into an "alternative” urban village. Fuelled by earth probe, the house is well insulated and with controlled ventilation. It provides cover for wind and weather, as well as noise and the electromagnetic fields of nearby electric power, hence the name “House Faraday”. The corrugated copper sheet cladding will age quickly and this will give it a touch of sensuality. Through oxidation, the copper will change its colour to dark brown, and after 20 to 30 years to light green. This is the first time that an experimental spirit has visited Bern and Lorraine is arguably the only district where this would be acceptable.
